Year 2009 is coming to an end... It is the time of the year where we reflect upon what has happened and the memories we hold in our heart. It is a fruitful year for me with the Nursery 1 children.
This year was the first time we embarked on adopting project approach curriculum in our centre and the children adapted well to the change and contributed to their own learning. Through the project approach, we were given the opportunity to work on various fun and interesting activities such as 'The Little Farmer has a Farm' class play and visited many interesting places on a field trip like the mushroom farm, the MRT station, the wet market and the zoo!
Through the year, the children have matured and learnt to be independent. We have helped many little children to be toilet trained and now most of them are able to go to the toilet by themselves without teacher's assistance. (: Good job! Children have also learnt to do simple things like feeding themselves and unpacking their bags every morning.
For many of us, this year was also the first time we performed on stage during the Year End Concert. This is also my first time choreographing a dance for a concert item. And I'm glad that it turned out successfully! After practicing it countless of times for the past 1 month before the concert, children remembered the steps so well that they can even dance to the concert song when I play it again in class now! Awesome!

Now, they have all been promoted to the Nursery 2 class with me, Teacher Shirley, as their form teacher, and partner with Teacher Winnie and Zhang Lao Shi. I am pleased to be given the opportunity to follow the children up to Nursery 2 class for another year of fun learning and to make new discoveries together! With the new year, we have a new classroom setting where new rules will be in place to reinforce positive behaviours. Children will be given more opportunities to explore their likes/dislikes and gain confidence through more group sharing session to encourage them to be confident individuals. Parents, I thank you for the support you have given me through the year 2009. I hope that in the new year to come, we can continue to work hand-in-hand together to deliver the best childhood learning experience for your little ones. May you have a successful and wonderful 2010!Happy New Year! ((:Labels: Reflections
